Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Features Hit Samsung Galaxy Note 2: Release Date Officially Arrives In Poland [VIDEO]

Samsung’s second-generation “phablet” device ships with Jelly Bean right out of the box, but now Samsung is beginning to push the Android 4.1 update out to the handset as well. This is the next iteration of Jelly Bean that comes with some minor tweaks before upgrading to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

According to Samsung news blog Sam Mobile, this Android 4.1.2 update is available for international versions of the Note 2 with the model number GT-N7100. Poland is the first nation to get this anticipated update to Google’s treat-themed mobile software. It was also first in line to get the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 back in September.

The website says that Samsung continues to roll out updates for the Galaxy Note 2 because its one of the company’s most popular smartphones and it wants to “provide the Galaxy Note 2 users with their best support experience.”

Users may not be able to install the update on their handsets immediately since it is said to be launched in phases depending on the carrier and region. Below is a list of some of the new features that users can expect with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean according to Sam Mobile.

New additions to Notification Toggles

Notification Panel can now be customized

Brightness slider in Notification Panel can now be disabled

Multi-View can be disabled

Smoother and improved Web browser

Status bar’s color has been changed from grey to black

Improved Samsung keyboard

New Ink Effect on lock screen

New Group Cast application

This update comes through Samsung’s KIES software or over-the-air. Two of the features mentioned above, the Ink Effect and Group Cast additions, are entirely new to Samsung’s Galaxy Note successor. When using Ink Effect, users can tap the lock screen with the S-Pen Stylus to create what appear to be blotches of ink across the display. Samsung has made this Ink Effect available in a variety of colors such as blue, orange, green and pink.

Group Cast is a feature found on Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S3 that is now making its way to the second-generation “phablet.” This application offers a new way to share media and information with others, allowing multiple device owners to view content at the same time. Users can mark this content for others to see by using the touch screen.

As the year draws to an end, Google’s Jelly Bean update seems to be rolling out on a larger scale. The mobile operating system has more than doubled its market presence this month, according to statistics gathered from the Google Play store.
